
Caiden Hinkle was crowned DeKalb High School homecoming king and Paige Storck was crowned homecoming queen Friday night.
WATERLOO — DeKalb High School wrapped up Homecoming for a Cause Friday night with the crowning of the homecoming king and queen.
Caiden Hinkle was crowned homecoming king and Paige Storck was crowned homecoming queen. They were crowned by last year’s king and queen, William Haupert and Mallory Eltzroth.
Students participated in fundraising events throughout the week in order to raise money for local charities selected by the homecoming king and queen. Events included a trivia contest, powderpuff events, class shirt sales and a hat day.
United Way of DeKalb County provided a funds match for this year’s event. Students raised a total of $852.68 for a grand total of $1,705.54, after the match, to be split between two local charities chosen by the newly crowned king and queen.
Hinkle chose to donate his portion of the fundraising to the Big Brothers Big Sisters of DeKalb County. Storck chose to donate her portion of the fundraising to Warm a Heart in Waterloo. Each organization will be receiving a check for $852.68.
Other members of the court included: seniors Graham Blythe, Piersten Burley, Maximus Brockhouse, Sydney Shambaugh, Ashley Cox, Nicholas Ley, Elizabeth Bucks and Cord Akey; juniors Claire Woodcox and Xavier Bell: sophomores Jacy Stokes and Corbin Smith; and freshmen Ellington Sparkman and Owen Schakow.
