United Way of DeKalb County Celebrates 20 Years of Power of the Purse
and 65 Years of Community Impact

Celebration luncheon set for April 24, 2026 at the Auburn Cord Duesenberg Automobile Museum

DeKalb County, Ind. – United Way of DeKalb County is proud to announce the 20th Annual Power of the Purse luncheon, taking place Friday, April 24, 2026, at the iconic Auburn Cord Duesenberg Automobile Museum. Doors open at 11:00 a.m., with the program beginning at 11:30 a.m. This milestone year honors both two decades of one of DeKalb County’s most beloved community events and United Way of DeKalb County’s 65-year commitment to advancing lasting local change for children, families, and neighbors across the county.

Over the past twenty years, Power of the Purse has grown into far more than a luncheon — it has become a signature celebration of generosity, connection, and, of course, the highly anticipated purses that make this event truly one-of-a-kind. Guests will enjoy an inspiring program, a memorable luncheon experience, and the return of the beloved Pack-a-Purse Raffle featuring curated handbags filled with creative surprises generously contributed by community partners throughout DeKalb County.

Sponsorship opportunities for the 2026 Power of the Purse are officially open. Businesses, organizations, and individuals are invited to partner with United Way of DeKalb County during this remarkable anniversary year. Sponsorship commitments directly fuel United Way of DeKalb County’s mission and help sustain the 20-year legacy of community connection and collective impact. Details on sponsorship levels, recognition, and purse donation guidelines can be found at www.unitedwaydekalb.org/power-purse.

“Power of the Purse has become one of our most beloved traditions — not just because of the stunning purses and the joy they bring, but because of the way this event brings people together in true community spirit,” said Kirby Cool, Community Impact Coordinator for United Way of DeKalb County. “It truly is one of my favorite events each year. Women, friends, coworkers, and community partners come together to lift each other up, invest in our neighbors, and carry change forward in a very real way. I’m honored to help celebrate 20 years of this event and the incredible impact it has made, and I couldn’t be more proud of what this community continues to achieve.”

Proceeds from the 2026 event will continue to support United Way of DeKalb County’s four key impact areas: strengthening families, expanding youth opportunity, improving financial security, and building community resiliency. These efforts reflect the heart of what United Way of DeKalb County has done for 65 years — unite people and resources to ensure every neighbor has the opportunity to thrive.

“This anniversary year is especially meaningful. Twenty years of Power of the Purse and sixty-five years of United Way of DeKalb County reflects thousands of moments of generosity, compassion, creativity, and community spirit. We are so proud of what this event has accomplished — and even more excited for the future we are building together,” said Tyler Cleverly, Executive Director of United Way of DeKalb County.

As we celebrate 20 years of Power of the Purse and 65 years of United Way of DeKalb County, the community is invited to join us in honoring this legacy and investing in what comes next.

UNITED IS THE WAY WE CARRY CHANGE.
