United Way of DeKalb County Launches Dolly Parton's Imagination Library to Inspire a Love for Reading in Children. United Way of DeKalb County is thrilled to announce the launch of the Dolly Parton's Imagination Library program in our community. This initiative aims to foster a lifelong love for reading in children and provide them with the tools they need to succeed. The Dolly Parton Imagination Library is a renowned early literacy program that delivers free, age appropriate books to children from birth to age five, ensuring that every child has access to high-quality books, regardless of their family's income. This program, inspired by the vision of country music icon Dolly Parton, has reached millions of children worldwide and made a lasting impact on early childhood literacy. Dolly Parton was inspired to start her Imagination Library in 1995, due to her own father’s inability to read and write. Today, this incredible literacy program is present in five countries and gives more than 1 million books each month to children around the world.
